I just have to make about 7 more pairs.
I made these grey alpaca for Willow- and they fit perfectly.
” You want me try them on here?
Right now?”
Yes- so I can see if they fit.
They Fit!
And so do these!
But if I don’t make a whole lot more, I will forget HOW to make them.
I can’t read a pattern- I have to memorize the steps.
So I’m on a great sock adventure!
Now I have to get some more fine wool.
Sigh.
I am so jealous, of both maker and wearer!
They really are quite beautiful.
I never thought I could knit a sock, let alone a pair like these.
Thanks, Allison!
You are too obsessed with socks. 🙂
Enjoy your magnificent obsession!
OK- maybe.
I am enjoying it- it is so amazing – the act of creating.
DL Sayers in “The Mind of the Maker”, suggests that God gives us the power and talent to create as part of the gifts to mankind, somehow linking us to Him with this ability.
One can never be too obsessed with socks – I LOVE SOCKS. My current favourites are Falke sensitive because they don’t fall down, but have kind bands so they don’t dent your ankles, and have cute little Ls and Rs on them and are shaped for your left and right feet. I was going to take a pic of my one remaining pair of hand knitted socks, which are maybe 20 years old which a friend knitted for me and look a bit like your patterned ones here, but then I thought that really is a bit mad. Yours in sock love always. J.
Love your socks. You are a knitting wonder. Now on to fingerless mitts.
I love my socks. I know they will keep my feet toasty and my heart warm thinking of you.
I have started on a new pair.
I really can’t help it. I love making socks.
Like you, Joanna, I truly love socks. I don’t like to wear shoes, but I LOVE socks!
Cynthis- I don’t think so.
Willow- I’m so glad you love them and toasty feet and a warm heart is just what you need for winter preparation in Ohio!
I like socks too. I REALLY like socks. No one has ever knitted me a pair to be my very own socks. I think that is very, very sad. If someone were to knit me a pair of, say, PINK socks, I would be very happy and feel very warm and loved.
Pink, you say?
Hmm. We need to find some pink fine sock wool.
NOT so easy to find.
Ah Heidiannie if only you were here. My mum just got rid of 3 HUGE bags of assorted wool that she didn’t need any more. You could have been knitting socks for the next couple of years. Alpaca wool is gorgeous isn’t it. I’m knitting a scarf at the moment from the wool from my mums alpacas, and it’s so very soft.
I still have a pair of knitted socks from India from 20 years ago.
Brydie!
You have officially driven me crazy!
Awakening desire where before there was contentment… I wish I was there…I would probably even endure a plane trip (maybe not).
