We spent the weekend in Columbus visiting with our son and daughter-in-law and grandson.  It was a beautiful and meaningful Easter celebration for us all.

easter 2010 015easter 2010 047 easter 2010 058

We played with Aidan and watched him play with his basket of fun,

easter 2010 044easter 2010 045 easter 2010 046

and checked out the backhoe down the street and the pile of gravel.

Then we took a short tour of Luke’s Seminary, Bexley Hall.

The trees were in full bloom- beautiful!

We had roast lamb, grilled fennel and leeks, basmati rice and whole wheat bunny rolls for dinner with fresh strawberries and dark chocolate truffles for dessert.

I don’t know where Luke and Willow will be next Easter- I’m just happy we lived close enough to spend the weekend together this year.

Life is short, but God is good.

All the time.

Ever feel like you’ve fallen into a rabbit hole?

I’ve been on a tread mill.

Lost to the world of blogging.

Working on projects and doing laundry.

And … well just lots of stuff.

It feels like free fall- I’m not in charge- I’m just doing the next thing.   And then the thing after that and then the thing after that- you get the idea?

shadows and romance 004 shadows and romance 005

And the theme of most of this stuff  involves bunnies.

shadows and romance 006

LOTS and LOTS of bunnies!

Today we are off to Columbus – and guess what I’m taking?

Did you guess?  Was it bunnies?

shadows and romance 001 Yes.  Bunnies.

-an + -en= Aidan’s galore!

Aidan en and yummies! 002 Aidan en and yummies! 031

And for some reason- we always seem to be eating!

-En is enjoying a dish of ice cream and -An is finishing off  his blueberry pancakes- YUMMY!

Yesterday, we made soft multigrain pretzels- Aidan helped me shape them and then he very graciously helped in the eating of them!

Aidan en and yummies! 025 Aidan en and yummies! 026

They looked and smelled wonderful…

Aidan en and yummies! 024

And they tasted even better!  I got the recipes from a suggestion of another friend’s blog.  Jill mentioned them and we decided to make them -here’s the link to the recipe– it says it makes 12 but we only got 9.  And they disappeared to quickly it seems like we only got 5.

This morning we had blueberry pancakes-

made with the berries Luke and Willow picked last July.

“What’s this?  Oh, a bloooberry!”

He ate his two pancakes- and part of Gramma and Gramps pancakes as well!

We’ve been kept busy with lots of fun things to do!

Lots of fun!

Lots and lots of fun!

Gotta go- much fun on the horizon!

Turtle Tea for Three- dedicated to Meredith

I told you about the tea we had at The Sailors’ Rest.

And I showed you pictures and shared the menu and a recipe.

Here is another tea I went to recently, in Columbus.

Meredith bought Aidan this great turtle towel at Pony Tails in Chincoteague.

She bought him a HUGE stuffed turtle in Hawaii and he loves it, so when she saw this towel she just picked it up and bought it!

And Aidan loves teapots!  Really, really loves them.

So we found him an aluminum teapot and added some Asparagus biscuits and you have a tea party.

Did I forget to mention how much he loves to peel Clementines?

So- towel, tea, biscuits and tangerines.

These all added up to a great tea!  Especially when you add Aidan, Grandma and Willow to the equation.

and out to the beach.

And then for a quick stop to pick up some seafood at Ricky’s-

which meant we passed the giant Viking on Ridge Rd.

Gingerbread and grandsons

To say we are having a great time is an understatement.

Aidan and Willow and I made gingerbread cookies on Christmas day.

And JoJo!  He made a cookie with a little help from his nephew.

Aidan announced the part of the anatomy he was going to eat right before he bit into it.  “Head.”

“Hand.”

Blurry pictures and Fuzzy head

Wreaths and smiles and hats! 003

Here is a picture of my paperwhites- blooming faithfully away!

It’s blurry.

My life feels blurry right now.  Too much to do- not enough time-

and I’m sick and tired.

I’ve been trying to keep up with it all, but honestly, I don’t think I’m even in the race anymore.  Cynthia and I made cookies and Quiche this week-  we made the quiches today- 8 of them for Christmas giving.  For enjoying on Christmas morning.

Fuzzy headed people with earaches and bad headaches should find a warm corner to sit in and drink tea.  Yesterday I went to Allyson’s and did just that.  And watched “The Bishop’s Wife” and played with Aiden .

I am going to look for a warm corner and drink some chamomile tea, now.

But first,  look at the cute slippers I made for Aidan!

Wreaths and smiles and hats! 075 I put octopi on the top instead of pom-poms!  They make me smile when I look at them- but I’m thinking he will probably pull them off of the slippers, forthwith.

Allyson And Aidan

I’m too tired to write today.  So I will give you the joy of a couple of pictures I took of Allyson and Aidan at lunch today!

Wreaths and smiles and hats! 016

Allyson:  “Hi, Aidan!  Look what I can do!”

Wreaths and smiles and hats! 019

Aidan” “Wow !  That is cool!  I want to do that, too!”

Wreaths and smiles and hats! 025

Aidan: ” Oh, no!  My hands are too small- I can’t see through my little fists!”

Wreaths and smiles and hats! 023

Allyson:  ” Here let me show you again!  I love the hat, btw, may I borrow it ?”

Wreaths and smiles and hats! 021

Aidan : “At least now I can see!  And watch out for that hat- because when you pull it off – your hair is full of static!Wreaths and smiles and hats! 034

See what I mean?!”

Wreaths and smiles and hats! 035

Allyson: ” Oh yeah, I get it- I mean, I GOT it!

Wreaths and smiles and hats! 037

That’s OK- I’ll just cover up my head completely.”

Wreaths and smiles and hats! 042 Aidan:  ” Grandma, I think Allyson has had too much tea and sugar!”

Wreaths and smiles and hats! 015

Allyson: “I don’t know What you are talking about!”

Paper Whites growing up in the southern window-

Paper Whites 003

Today!

Willow always gives me paperwhites for Thanksgiving.  We share a love for plants and growth and green and flowers.  And I love knowing that our plants are growing up -mine here- hers in Columbus.

Look at the difference a day of sunshine makes!

These are going to bloom way before Christmas!  And I’m happy about that, because we won’t be here for Christmas, so I’ll get to enjoy them during the Advent season.

Christmas is about relationship.  God within the Godhead- the Trinity opened to include us into eternal relationship.  Christ becoming man in order to bring adoption to mankind.  Relationship.

The gifting is there, most certainly, but the relationship is by far the center of the Christmas experience for me.  And the wonder of the incarnation- not from the point of view of mankind, but from God.  That surrendering of glory that Christ refers to in his high priestly prayer in John 17.  That sundering of relationship that involves flesh and blood.  The entire episode of becoming sin and stepping into the breach-paying the price- healing the breach of sin- and becoming our advocate.

So- when I start to get crazy about gifts and start thinking about what I can give, or make or buy- I look at these paper whites and think of relationship.  Because that is what makes this gift so precious to me- the giving of her understanding, the sharing of our interests and joys, the inclusion these lovely plants give me in my daughter’s life.

And in that reminder, I look again at Christmas- at a baby in a manger- at the relationships that rocked the Universe and set things straight.

Peace on earth, Goodwill to men.
